The President of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, signed the book of condolences in honour of the deceased former US President George H. W. Bush at the Embassy of the United States of America in Slovenia.

The President of the Republic has already expressed his sincere condolences in his name and on behalf of the people of Slovenia to the relatives of the deceased and former US President George W. Bush and US President Donald Trump on the death of George H. W. Bush.

In his letter of condolences, President Pahor wrote: "President Bush was a remarkable leader and an inspiring human being. He guided America and shaped the world duringthe most profound historic change. We Europeans will never forget his commitment to freedom, democracy and human rights. It was during his presidency when Slovenia became independent in 1991 and a year later established formal relations with the United States. In this time of grief, let me reassure you that the legacy of President George H. W. Bush will be long remembered."
