President Pahor meets Albanian President Meta

Today, the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, met the President of the Republic of Albania, Ilir Meta, for a working discussion.
The presidents exchanged their views about the situation in the region and talked about relations between the Republic of Slovenia and the Republic of Albania. They agreed that relations between the countries are very good. President Pahor thanked President Meta for the recently received letter of congratulation on his re-election as President of the Republic of Slovenia, and he congratulated President Meta on the 105th
anniversary of independence, which Albania was celebrating in the coming days.
President Pahor was interested in the internal political situation in Albania and its progress in moving closer to joining the European Union. The presidents also spoke about regional cooperation, emphasising the Brdo–Brijuni Process, in connection with which all relevant leaders would meet next year at a summit in Macedonia. President Pahor highlighted his hope that good political relations between the countries would continue, and he guaranteed the continued assistance and support of the Republic of Slovenia in promoting further reform processes in Albania, which are necessary for the start of accession negotiations for Albania’s membership of the European Union.
