Tripartite meeting of the Presidents of Slovenia, Austria and Croatia in Brijuni

On Friday, 3 June 2022, the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, attended the regular annual meeting of the Presidents of Austria, Croatia and Slovenia, which this year took place in Brijuni, Croatia. At the invitation of the President of the Republic of Croatia, Zoran Milanović, the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, the President of the Republic of Austria, Alexander van der Bellen, and the host, the President of the Republic of Croatia, Zoran Milanović, met in Brijuni.

The purpose of the trilateral meetings between Slovenia, Austria and Croatia at the highest level is to strengthen relations and cooperation in a closer regional format. The Presidents of the three countries discuss issues in the regional, European and broader international context. This trilateral meeting focused on topical European issues and views were exchanged on the war in Ukraine, the EU's united response to Russian aggression and the implications of sanctions for the Euro-Atlantic area.
The Presidents also discussed the impact of the situation on the Western Balkans region and the credibility of the EU enlargement process. Presidents Pahor, Van der Bellen and Milanović paid particular attention to strengthening friendly relations between neighbouring countries and also addressed the situation in the South-East European region. In this context, they discussed the continuation of the European perspective of the Western Balkan countries.
