In their talks, President Borut Pahor and his American partners in dialogue emphasised the commitment to the close cooperation between the countries and within the NATO Alliance. The senators were interested in the President's position on the situation in the neighbouring Western Balkan region, his views on Russian geopolitics, the future of European defence policies, and the issue of migrations. Both sides found the talks very beneficial and paramount for deepening mutual trust and cooperation, both regarding bilateral and multi-lateral issues.

The President asked the senators, all of whom are Republicans, to send his regards to their colleague John McCain, wishing him all the best and a quick recovery.
