The President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr Danilo Türk, was the guest of honour at the opening of the 5th Bled Strategic Forum. In his address, he spoke about global challenges of the next decade and pointed out that both honesty and a realistic assessment of the situation were of paramount importance in understanding the present situation, and that imagination was the quality most needed when searching for solutions. He pointed out the situation in Afghanistan being where, in his view, the world will need all the imagination possible to devise an appropriate exit strategy. more »

The President of the Republic of Croatia, Dr Ivo Josipoviæ, and his wife, Tatjana Josipoviæ visited the Republic of Slovenia at the invitation of the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr Danilo Türk, and his wife, Barbara Mikliè Türk. The two presidential couples attended a concert of the Orchestra of the Mariiinsky Theatre of St Petersburg conducted by Valerij Gergijev, held in Cankarjev dom cultural centre as part of Ljubljana Festival 2010. In his statement to the press, President Türk assessed the development of relations between Slovenia and Croatia in recent months as extremely positive. more »

The President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr Danilo Türk, received the Prime Minister of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Jean-Claude Juncker, who is on an official visit to Slovenia. The Slovenian President first recalled the friendly assistance and favourable attitude demonstrated by Luxembourg when Slovenia was striving for independence and said that this provides a solid foundation for good relations between the two countries, which today also maintain a high level of cooperation within the European Union. more »

The President of the Republic of Slovenia and the Commander-in-Chief of the Slovenian Armed Forces, Dr Danilo Türk, visited the Novo mesto barracks where he was given a presentation of the training of the members of the 14th Slovenian ISAF Mission Contingent before their secondment to the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan. There are 90 members of the Slovenian Armed Forces in the Contingent which will, in autumn, assume independent control of its own operational mentor and liaison team (the OMLT). more »

The President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr Danilo Türk, received the President of the State of Israel, Shimon Peres, who had arrived on an official visit to the Republic of Slovenia. After being received with military honours, the Slovenian President and the Israeli President had a brief one-to-one meeting, followed by plenary talks between the delegation of the Republic of Slovenia and the delegation of the State of Israel, led by the respective presidents.
